Hi Fred,

I see nothing wrong with Jody Dillow's statement. Although Jody does not explicitly include the resurrection of Christ, the truth is no doubt implied (not denied). Jody emphasizes the substitutionary death of Christ as the heart of the gospel, and that is what the Bible emphasizes as well.

Good thoughts man! You're always right on with this and it's refreshing to see someone so dedicated on the truth and doing so in love. The world will reject and scoff at our message, but it is true and the only hope for mankind. Thanks for your grace, clarity, and passion!

Lee,

It was written by Lucas Bradburn, who is, I think a seminary student right now. He graciously allowed me to address some concerns in his first draft (he wrote me for the feedback), so I commend him.

I do think he has some misunderstandings because of the paradigm he lives within. That's why I'm addressing them here. I think he, at times, is sort of violating his own principles of critique...so, I'll get there.

Thanks for the encouragement,

Fred

Fred, I ran across this website and the review of your book recently. Who wrote the review? It only says "admin". I am just a layman. But, even I can see his critique of your book is less than scholarly and, well, actually not “critical” or exegetical.

Although he gives a dismissive compliment to your exegesis of James 2 (which I concur with Joe Dillow about it being the best), he, himself, doesn't stay in the context; rather, he jumps around and extrapolates verses and words from other passages which are not related to James 2. And, as many "reformers", he makes sweeping unfounded generalizations, e.g., “Fourth, there seem to be direct parallels between Jesus’ teaching and James’ writing. Of particular importance are the similarities between the parable of the sheep and the goats recorded in Matt. 25:31-46 and James 2:14-26”???? Furthermore, he connects "goats" and those with dead faith being the "same thing" with no explanation of how he arrived at that conclusion.

You were very gracious and kind in your response to his review.

Thanks for being on the “wall” for the clarity of the Gospel
